Richard Arroyo,
past Director, Mexico Marking and Promotion in the United States,
holds dual U.S./Mexican citizenship and for over 40 years has
been a frequent visitor and resident of Mexico. He has traveled
to all regions of the country. As a consultant to the Mexican
government, for many years he supervised Mexico's marketing and
promotion in the United States. He currently lives in the Phoenix
area part time and part time in Sn. Miguel de Allende, a favorite
city for American, Canadian and European retirees and visitors.
During his presentation,
Arroyo will enlighten you with surprising facts you may not know
about Mexico. He will discuss the current status/conditions of
widely-reported crime or dangers in Mexico and why Mexico is still
a popular choice for retirees. He will also discuss cost of living
considerations. As a part of his presentation, he will show the
movie "Gringolandia," an award-winning documentary about
Americans living in Mexico and what they like and regret about
their decision to move south of the Border.

CONSUMER REPORTER
Investigative
reporting is both a challenge and a much needed public service
and Lisa Parker has few peers. Her reports have garnered 12 Midwest
Emmys, two Edward R. Murrow Regional RTNDA awards, two Gracie
Allen awards, and several state and local broadcast awards. She
joined Chicago's NBC channel 5 in 1996 and initiated the Target
5 consumer-investigative uniT.
Her presentation
will examine what investigative reporting is all about - how needs
are determined, the challenges involved in obtaining crucial information
from reticent sources and how reports are put together.
Her reports have been the catalyst for change and new legislation
on a wide variety of issues. Lisa will show and discuss some of
her lead stories...
Parker started
her career in broadcasting as a part-time camera operator and
producer in Waterloo, Iowa. She speaks fluent Spanish and is a
1988 graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Jim Turner, a
retired historian from the Arizona Historical Society, is now
a freelance editor, teacher, researcher and author. His family
moved to Tucson in 1951 and he has been studying Arizona history
for 36 years. Jim received his master's degree in U.S. History
from the University of Arizona, and now teaches history for Central
Arizona College. He has worked with more than 70 museums around
the state and enjoys writing history articles for The Globe-Miami
Times, the Arizona Daily Star, and the Capitol Times. Jim's new
pictorial history book, "Arizona: Celebrating the Grand Canyon
State," is available at Amazon.com and was featured in a
recent issue of PHOENIX Magazine.

Come listen to and learn from
one of the leading artists in the world. Paul has performed with
Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Liberace, the Temptations
and the Moody Blues.
He's done film scores, commercial
jingles, symphonic productions and stage shows of every description.
Paul anchored the rhythm section during a nationwide sold-out
tour of the revival of "Jesus Christ Superstar" with
the 1973 movie cast.
Paul developed an assortment
of instrumental arrangements built around steel drums and marimba,
resulting in numerous CD releases. These recordings, embraced
the world over for their easy nature and exotic beauty, prompted
popular pianist Roger Williams to write, "If you don't stop
making these beautiful recordings, you'll put me out of business!"
Paul McDermand appears as leader of his own group and as a guest
soloist with the finest ensembles, often alongside guitar virtuoso
Esteban.

OK, so what is
a Mud Engineer? Think back to the BP oil leakage. Dan is an expert
at deepwater drilling and has traveled the world to employ his
skills. He will describe the ins and outs of this challenging
and many times dangerous line of work.
He left Leesville,
LA and the family automobile business, seeking a more exciting
career. Hired by Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids, he worked offshore
LA and TX for five years and became a Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer
for offshore drilling in the Gulf Coast.
Daniel enjoys the challenges of deepwater/ultra deepwater drilling.
As part of the International rotation pool out of Houston, he
worked on drilling and completion projects in Indonesia, Thailand,
Sumatra, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Argentina, Angola,
Somalia, Pakistan, China, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Gabon, Venezuela,
Qatar, Dubai, Malaysia and Indonesia.
For the last seven years, he has been heavily involved in Murphy
Sarawak, Malaysia's Kikeh deepwater project and several other
Murphy projects in Asia. Part of the year he works in Malaysia
and the other part he enjoys life in PebbleCreek.

Paul's remarks will
focus on the implications of the turbulent times in the Middle
East on the region and on U.S. interests in the area. He will
discuss the status of the situations in specific countries, as
well as his views on their outcomes and impact on the region.
He will devote considerable time to taking questions from the
audience.
Paul has 35+ years
of experience on the Middle East, including his Master's program
at the Johns Hopkins University's School for International Studies
(SAIS), his 19-year career in the CIA and his current role at
Thunderbird, where he has analyzed events for the media and for
alumni.
He traveled and worked in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan,
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, and has met with Kings, Presidents,
Prime Ministers, and prominent businessmen, including Egyptian
Presidents Sadat and Mubarak, Jordanian King Hussein, and Israeli
Prime Minister Rabin.
At Thunderbird, he helps students and executives understand the
challenges and opportunities posed by megatrends and the benefits
of incisive market and competitive intelligence, as well as in
how to think strategically and make impactful decisions in today's
volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world.
